1. From Kapaau town, follow 270 east towards Pololu Valley. You will pass ‘Iole Road, (where the New Moon Foundation offices and the former Bond Estate Girls’ School are located), the Arakaki Store, and Kohala Middle School.
2. Continuing along the highway through this neighborhood, you will soon reach a gulch (note the dip in the road on the map). When you come out of the gulch, you’ll see a Buddhist temple and the Rankin gallery on your right.
3. Continue straight on 270. You will see a one lane bridge. Do not cross the bridge. Just before the bridge on the left is a sign that says HALAWA CEMETARY (it is white and black, probably 1 square foot, badly written). Turn left at the sign.
4. At the bottom of the slope is a gate. The road veers off to the left. Follow the road. There will be a right hand turn with big boulders on the corner with another cemetery sign. Do not turn right here; continue straight. This is the old Pratt Road. It is in rough condition so drive carefully. You will see a bamboo hedge on the right and an ornate iron gate on the right. This is the driveway to Halawa House.
5. You will be directed to park your vehicle beyond the entryway to Halawa House on the Vipassana Hawaii property next door
