The Orphan and Vulnerable Child Center will be a building within which orphans and vulnerable children can be fed , counseled , do their homework , be loved, play, congregate, have support groups and be set up for adoption and foster parenting with local families.
The land has already been gifted to Woza Moya by the local Induna, the tribal chief of the area. The cost of the building will be about $75,596 with labor, engineering and architects fees already pledged by supporters. Once the building is erected, Woza Moya will be eligible for further local government and agency support. Included in the costs for this project are an access road and a well for water.
This building has now been fully funded, in partnership with Mothering Across Continents (MAC), a Charlotte , NC-based initiative with a vision to be a catalyst for people who want to make a difference in the lives of orphans and vulnerable children affected by HIV/AIDS. MAC funds "dream" projects - those that with small-scale contributions have potential for a large-scale impact on the health, education and joy of children in need.
The next phase o f the Woza Moya construction program will be a Doctor and Volunteer Lodging Building which will make it possible for Woza Moya to formally set up a volunteer program to which prospective volunteers can apply. Initially this building will be used as accommodation for volunteers until enough funds are raised for a new Medical Clinic in the years to come. Once the medical clinic is built , this building will also serve as housing for visiting doctors. Again, fundraising for this building is in partnership with MAC. The cost of this building is estimated to be $55,000.
